Rush-hour drivers in the North West faced long queues after a crash shut the M6 in both directions at the Lymm Interchange near Warrington, where it meets the M56. The northbound collision was reported shortly before 4am, with traffic diverted via junction 20 slip roads. Congestion stretched back towards Knutsford and Newton-le-Willows, and the M62 towards Manchester slowed as drivers hunted for other ways round.
