CPS admits AI-generated fake legal cases were filed in High Court

Two legal cases cited by the Crown Prosecution Service did not exist and were later linked to likely use of artificial intelligence. The errors appeared in documents opposing two extradition appeals before the High Court, but the false citations were removed before the final hearing. A judge accepted the CPS’s apology after it blamed human failure to check the material.
