Cornwall potato growers fear huge crop losses from heatwave stress
Extended heatwaves mean potato plants across Cornwall are shutting down and dying, with growers expecting significantly lower yields. Philip Pryor, who farms about 1,000 acres of potatoes, said later crops won't produce what they should. One farmer anticipates that his April to May plantings will yield between three and five tonnes of ruined crops per acre.
