CMA approves £75m ABF Hovis deal, ensures bread supply.
Bread supply for households on lower incomes is steadied after a ruling on a major UK deal. Regulators approved Associated British Foods’ £75m plan to buy Hovis after deciding it would not harm competition, and said without it the company’s bakery arm could leave the UK market entirely. Allied Bakeries runs Kingsmill, Sunblest and Allinson’s, supplying supermarkets with bread and baked goods.
