China used fake firm to steal UK university research, MI5 says
MI5 said on Wednesday that Chinese intelligence used a front company, the China General Technology Research Institute, to fund at least 100 UK academics and obtain their research. Areas targeted included artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and MI5 warned that continuing to work with the institute could lead to prosecution. Security Minister Dan Jarvis has written to every vice-chancellor telling them to end all ties.
