China mandates self-driving car deactivation override from July 2027

New rules from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will require self-driving vehicles to have a mandatory deactivation override. These standards, effective from July 1, 2027, aim to ensure autonomous systems match human driver safety and prevent misuse. Meanwhile, the UK's Ministry of Defence is excluding Chinese suppliers from a new £2.5 billion vehicle contract.
