China blocks US sanctions on five oil refineries

Beijing has fired its sharpest legal shot yet at US sanctions over Iranian oil. China's Ministry of Commerce on Saturday issued an injunction blocking US measures against five Chinese refineries accused of buying Iranian crude, including Hengli Petrochemical and four smaller teapot refiners. The ministry said the sanctions violate international law and ordered Chinese firms not to recognise or comply with them.
