Chelsea are exploring a move to sign Brighton forward Danny Welbeck, the 35-year-old England international, according to David Ornstein. Ornstein reported that Welbeck has 12 months left on his contract, that Brighton know of the interest, and that manager Xabi Alonso rates his quality and leadership. The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker is at an early stage, though all sides are reportedly optimistic.
