ChatGPT Sent Shoppers To Fake Sites Offering 80% Discounts

People can lose money and have bank details taken when they buy from copied retail websites shown in AI-generated search results. Ask Silver said on 7 June 2026 that ChatGPT responses about Russell & Bromley bags included links to fraudulent pages resembling the retailer. One fake site advertised discounts of up to 80%, while OpenAI said it had removed the websites from its search index.
