Prime Minister Andy Burnham makes his first official visit to Germany today, meeting Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin for talks on cyber-attacks, sabotage and other hybrid threats blamed on Russia. The pair will formally ratify the 2025 Kensington Treaty covering defence, security, technology and growth. The trip comes days after Burnham told Labour's conference he wants options for closer EU ties, possibly including eventually rejoining.
