Burnham promises low-income pensioners won't pay income tax
Andy Burnham told Labour's conference that low-income pensioners will not be dragged into paying income tax during this parliament. The full state pension is expected to pass the £12,570 tax-free allowance from April 2027, with the allowance frozen until 2031. He also said pensioners living on little more than the state pension would no longer pay care charges from it under his plan.
