Burnham promises 16 to 18-year-olds a 45-day work placement
Andy Burnham promised a 45-day work placement between 16 and 18, an apprenticeship at 18 and no more long waits for young people's mental health support. He said technical and academic routes would be equal from 14, with Lucy Powell rebuilding comprehensive education. He blamed politicians, not young people, for rising youth benefit claims and said welfare reform would pay for it.
