British Heart Foundation closing 150 charity shops
The British Heart Foundation is shutting nearly a quarter of its shops because rising costs and changing shopping habits are making them unprofitable. The charity currently operates 640 retail locations across the UK and intends to shut down approximately 90 of them by March 2027, with the remaining outlets ceasing operations by March 2028. The organization states these closures are necessary to sustain funding for heart disease research, a condition that persistently represents major cause of mortality in the UK.
