Britain’s Tempest fighter delays threaten 2035 goal
Defence planning could face further pressure if funding delays continue for Britain’s future combat aircraft effort. Reports said ministers were still weighing long-term support for the Global Combat Air Programme with Japan and Italy in May 2026. A temporary agreement covering development work runs until the end of June, while about 4,000 UK staff are already involved in the project today.
