Bird flu to hit gannet recovery for 15 years

Two of the world's biggest gannet colonies in the UK may not recover from the 2022 bird flu outbreak until 2041, a new study found. The RSPB said adult gannet deaths increased fourfold, causing a 26% drop at Bass Rock and 38% at Grassholm. Researchers are recommending a change to the Northern gannet's conservation status.
