Bedford train crash update: one dead, 33 seriously hurt

One person has died and 33 others were seriously injured in the Bedford train collision on Friday, British Transport Police have confirmed. The East of England Ambulance Service said 11 of those had very serious injuries, with a further 56 people treated for minor injuries at the scene or in hospital. Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said a major incident remains declared as investigators work to establish exactly what happened.
