BBC says its funding model can no longer support public broadcasting

The broadcaster says 94% of UK adults use its services each month, but only 80% of households pay the TV licence fee. BBC Director General Matt Brittin, who started in May, called it “a moment of real jeopardy” and said ministers are reviewing the licence fee and how it’s collected. Current funding runs until the end of 2027, with subscription and advertising among the options discussed.
