Badenoch Says NHS Reliance on Overseas Staff 'Not Normal'

Badenoch Says NHS Reliance on Overseas Staff 'Not Normal'

Roger Harris / House of Commons (UK Parliament), CC BY 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has said it is "not normal" that the NHS depends so heavily on overseas nurses, during a call-in on LBC with Iain Dale. She argued that if the health service cannot survive without immigration, its model needs to change, and called for more homegrown nurses who are paid better. She also suggested nurses should be able to qualify without a degree.
