Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud and its allies won 53 of the Knesset's 120 seats, against 48 for Gadi Eisenkot's bloc, with two Arab-led alliances holding 19 seats. President Isaac Herzog began talks with parties on Wednesday evening, warning that "not every commitment and promise can be fulfilled." Whoever he picks to form a government gets 28 days, with a possible 14-day extension.
