B&M profit falls 26% as costs rise
Shoppers could face pressure as the retailer warned that expenses are set to increase in the year ahead and demand was weak during the early garden-selling period. B&M reported results for the year to March 28 on Wednesday, with adjusted core earnings dropping compared with a year earlier despite unchanged comparable UK sales. Profit came in at £459 million, while better weather in late May helped seasonal purchases recover.
