Avalanche kills five German climbers in Italy
An avalanche on Cima Vertana in South Tyrol, Italy, claimed the lives of five German nationals on Saturday at about 3,200 metres elevation. The deceased included a man, his 17-year-old daughter, two other men, and a woman. Three victims were located the same day; the father and daughter were found after searches resumed Sunday. Two other Germans escaped injury. Specialists cited unstable snow conditions following recent snowfall.
