Australia's Under-16 Social Media Ban: 80% Still Online
Australia became the first country to ban under-16s from social media in December 2025, but a new study found the law hasn't stopped kids using it. More than 80% of 12- to 17-year-olds surveyed were still online three months later, often using fake accounts or by-passing weak age checks. Experts warn the UK's similar ban, due in 2027, could also fail without a stronger strategy.
