AstraZeneca is discussing a £300bn merger with US rival Bristol Myers Squibb

The proposed tie-up follows a recent pledge from AstraZeneca to invest $50bn into United States manufacturing and research sites. A Financial Times report revealed the businesses have been talking for months, but warned that an agreement could still collapse. Shares in the Cambridge-based company, which is currently the second most valuable business on the UK stock market, dropped 7.1% on Monday.
