Argentina survive Cabo Verde scare to reach last 16

Argentina survived a huge scare from World Cup debutants Cabo Verde to win 3-2 after extra time in Miami and reach the last 16. Lionel Messi scored his 20th career World Cup goal to open the scoring, but the 67th-ranked underdogs twice pegged Argentina back, including a stunning extra-time equaliser from Sidny Lopes Cabral. An extra-time own goal finally settled it for the defending champions, who play Egypt next.
