Argentina Closes Iguazu Falls After River Surge

Argentina Closes Iguazu Falls After River Surge

Wikimedia Commons

Argentina temporarily closed tourist access to Iguazu Falls after heavy rains linked to El Niño pushed the Iguazu River above 12,000 cubic metres per second, over six times its normal flow. National park officials said the closure was a precaution against flooding and that the site would reopen on Tuesday as water levels eased. The Unesco-listed falls lie on the border between Argentina and Brazil.
