Apple sets a 5% fee for apps downloaded outside its store in Europe
The changes take effect from 1 October and scrap an older pricing setup that European Union watchdogs had heavily criticised. The tech firm confirmed on Tuesday that developers distributing software through outside websites or marketplaces will now pay a 5% cut. Applications remaining on the official App Store but using external payment methods will face a 20% charge.
