Apple Seeks Approval to Buy Chinese Chips

Higher memory chip costs could keep pushing up prices for some Apple products. Apple asked the Trump administration for permission to buy memory chips from ChangXin Memory Technologies, a Chinese company on a Pentagon blacklist, according to a Financial Times report published on Friday. It contacted the Commerce Department more than a month ago, while Apple, the White House and CXMT gave no comment.
