Apple adds new camera mode to verify iPhone photos

Apple has created a new camera mode called Apple Reference Image to help tell real photos from AI-generated ones. Apple Reference Image, launching on iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, securely timestamps images directly from the sensor. It uses dedicated hardware and Apple's Private Cloud Compute to protect image integrity and privacy, making photos verifiable.
