Apollo on track to buy Easyjet for £5.7bn after rival bidder withdraws

The airline's board is now backing the New York investment giant instead of an earlier £5.5bn agreement. Castlelake, a competing US financial group, announced on Thursday it will drop out before the Friday deadline set by regulators. If the buyout completes at 715p a share, Apollo must find a workaround for strict EU rules requiring airlines to be locally owned.
