Andy Burnham picked for Makerfield byelection
Labour’s internal tensions could grow further as Andy Burnham moves closer to returning to Parliament. Labour’s National Executive Committee confirmed Burnham as its candidate for the Makerfield byelection after Josh Simons stepped down from the seat, a development also reported by The Guardian. Robert Kenyon will stand for Reform UK, with the vote expected on 18 June pending approval from Commons authorities.
