Andy Burnham becomes UK prime minister on Monday after Labour leadership win

Andy Burnham will officially become the UK's prime minister on Monday, three days after taking over as Labour leader. He returned to Parliament in a recent by-election, allowing him to challenge for the top job after current leader Sir Keir Starmer lost public support. Burnham plans to broadly stick to Labour's 2024 policies, but wants to give more power to local councils.
