Andy Burnham becomes PM, but no general election planned

Andy Burnham officially became the UK's Prime Minister on Monday, the seventh in a decade, after meeting King Charles III. Some opposition parties are calling for a general election to give him a mandate, but Labour's deputy leader Lucy Powell said he will stick to the 2024 manifesto. Burnham has promised a "circuit breaker" moment for Britain, aiming to restore hope and deliver significant changes.
