AMD buys AI startup World Labs for $8.2 billion
Advanced Micro Devices revealed on Monday its intention to purchase Fei-Fei Li's AI startup, World Labs, through an all-stock transaction. The acquisition provides the chipmaker with entry to investigations into physical AI systems capable of comprehending and modelling the world. Once the acquisition is finalized by late 2026, Fei-Fei Li will assume the role of AMD's lead scientist and an executive vice president.
