Top seed Alexander Zverev defeated Ben Shelton in four sets to secure his maiden US Open title on Sunday. The German emerged victorious with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-2 scoreline in the championship match at Flushing Meadows, building on his French Open success earlier this year. Zverev even admitted he didn't realise he had won on championship point, thinking the score was 5-1.
