Aldi to spend £900m opening 40 new UK stores next year
The budget supermarket plans to expand its network despite warning that global shipping costs driven by the Iran war and recent droughts are pushing up grocery expenses for households. Aldi grew its turnover to £19bn in 2025 following a £340m price-cutting investment on everyday essentials. The chain currently operates 1,092 locations across the country and holds a 10.6 per cent share of the market.
