ADHD and autism benefit claims rise fastest in affluent areas

A new analysis indicates that the most affluent areas of England experienced the quickest increase in young people being granted Personal Independence Payment for ADHD and autism. The Nuffield Trust think tank discovered that from 2019 to 2025, the percentage of 16-17-year-olds obtaining PIP for these conditions more than trebled in the least deprived fifth of neighbourhoods.
