Acclaimed jazz musician Abdullah Ibrahim passed away at 91.

His career, which lasted for eight decades, saw him play a key role in developing a particular style of South African jazz. Ibrahim, born Adolph Johannes Brand, passed away peacefully in Germany on Monday after a short illness, his family confirmed. The well-known 1974 song, Mannenberg, by him, came to be associated with the fight against apartheid, the system of legalized racism in South Africa.
