Accessible public transport could add £176 billion to UK economy
A new report suggests making the UK's transport network fully accessible could boost the economy by £176.4 billion a year. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) found that almost a quarter of working-age people are currently shut out of work due to transport issues. Transport network investment could also generate up to £34 billion in extra annual fare revenue for operators.
