Over half of Britons distrust Labour government's free speech protection

A new poll for civil rights group Liberty revealed that 51% of Britons have less trust in the government's capacity to safeguard free speech than they did two years ago. Liberty attributes this to the Home Office, pointing to restrictions on activists' travel and stricter protest legislation. Akiko Hart, Liberty's director, stated that these results should serve as a caution to Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
