Ferry passengers between UK and Ireland will need passports from September 2026

From 28 September 2026, all ferry passengers travelling between Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland will need a valid passport. New UK Border Force requirements for passenger data are bringing in the change. Stena Line and Irish Ferries have already started notifying customers about the new rules.
