US Navy destroyer lost power for four days in South China Sea

The USS Benfold, a guided-missile destroyer, experienced an engineering failure on July 24, losing working toilets, air conditioning, and food services. Contractor tugboats took the ship to Subic Bay in the Philippines, where repairs commenced. Power was restored on July 30 and all repairs were finished by August 7, allowing the destroyer to leave Subic Bay on August 8.
