6-month-old monkey Punch makes friends at Japanese zoo
Workers at Japan's Ichikawa City Zoo initially offered an abandoned macaque a plush toy for emotional support. Following his mother's rejection, the young animal spent six months relying entirely on the fake orangutan. Recent observations reveal the primate is finally integrating, receiving hugs and grooming fellow enclosure mates. A British sanctuary director explained that this specific contact remains essential for forming natural troop friendships.
