£3m Helps Build Five Indoor Cricket Centres

More people across England could gain year-round access to cricket facilities under a government-backed expansion programme aimed at increasing participation in the sport. Funding of £3 million, announced on 9 June 2026, will support the development of five new covered cricket venues in Birmingham, Derby, Newcastle upon Tyne, Bolton and Nottingham. The investment follows the opening of three similar sites, while a further £1.5 million has already been allocated for two additional locations.
