102 farm chemicals detected in roast dinner ingredients
People eating a traditional Sunday roast could be exposed to dozens of farm chemicals used on vegetables and fruit. Greenpeace said data from a 2024 pesticide survey found 102 substances used across seven crop categories, including seven banned in the European Union. Potatoes, carrots, peas and strawberries were among foods named, while the National Farmers’ Union said crop production could fall by up to 50% without pesticide use.
