£1.1bn: How Britain plans to build its own AI chips

More computing power and support for local technology firms could help expand Britain’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. The government set out a £1.1bn programme on Monday that includes a national supercomputer and funding for UK chip businesses, building on an earlier commitment announced by Keir Starmer at London Tech Week. Earlier plans included £400m for specialist AI chip purchases.
