Why the new passport rule?

The UK Border Force is introducing new requirements for passenger data. This change aims to enhance border security and streamline checks for all travellers entering the UK from the Republic of Ireland by ferry. It brings ferry travel more in line with air travel requirements, where passports are already standard.
