Explained in plain English

Why do councillors matter so much?

Record numbers of Green councillors are significant because local government is often a training ground for future national politicians. It also allows parties to implement policies at a local level, demonstrating their effectiveness and building a base of support. This grassroots growth can translate into national influence over time.
