Why are vaccines important?

Vaccines protect individuals and communities from serious diseases by training the body's immune system to fight off specific infections. If enough people are vaccinated, it creates 'herd immunity', making it harder for diseases to spread, especially protecting those who can't be vaccinated, like very young babies or people with certain health conditions.
