Explained in plain English

Why are tracks damp?

Even a pre-race rain shower can leave parts of a track damp, especially in shaded areas or corners where water collects. This reduces tyre grip significantly, making it easy for powerful F1 cars to lose control, as Verstappen experienced at Zandvoort's final corner. Teams constantly monitor track conditions.
