Why are they so rare?

Montagu's harriers are a beautiful bird of prey, but they're incredibly rare in the UK. They usually prefer warmer climates, so only a handful migrate here to breed each year. Finding six chicks in one season is a huge success, showing how vital it is to protect their breeding grounds from disturbance and agricultural work.
